Daisy Troop 970
Daisy Troop 970 is an after school troop.
This years troop (1996-1997) has 10 registered girls. They will once again meet after school.
Our Daisy troop was very active, we had great supportive parents. Out of the ten girls 4 moved out of the school district by
the end of the year. So we had an average of 8 girls at each troop meeting.
Some of the activities for this troop in 1996-1997 were (click on the links

- Party For "Daisy"
(10/28/96) We celebrated by reading all about Daisy. We made party
mask and frosted cookies.
- Vegetable Printing and made
invitations for our Investiture Ceremony (11/4/96)
- Making Turkeys (11/18/96)
- Tree Lighting Ceremony (11/25/96) in Central Square: attended by 5 members of this
troop. The girls and their families sang Jingle Bells.
- Christmas Caroling (12/20/96) in Central Square: 7 girls signed up to go however, due to
weather it was cancelled.
- Snow White Ballet (2/8/97) in Syracuse: attended by 3 members of this troop. This was
performed by the Ballet and Dance Studio of Upstate NY, girls received a Theatre patch.
- Feeling Safe Day (4/12/97) in Syracuse: attended by 4 members of this troop. The
participants received a patch. They participated in presentations on Bicycle and general
Safety, Officer Friendly, Self defense, and First Aid.
- Lakeview Service Unit Encampment (5/10/97) at Camp Near Wilderness in Parish. 3 brave
girls from this troop attended the day trip to the SU encampment. Although it was quite
cold and raining they enjoyed games, songs, crafts, and other activities!
- Outdoor Happenings (5/18/97) at Camp Hoover in Tully: attended by 5 members of this
troop. Girls who attended received their Brownie Try-It!
- Birds Of a Feather (6/7/97) at Burnet Park Zoo in Syracuse: attended by 6 members of
this troop. We went on a tour of the zoo.

Contemporary Issues program:
- All of the Girls completed the Growing Up Female: Girls are Great Program.
- All of the girls completed the Girl Scouts Against Smoking Program.
- Three girls completed the Staying Safe Program
More Community Activities:
- The girls made and displayed posters at the Community Health Fair.
- The girls made and displayed posters for Earth Day.
